Indications for corneal refractive therapy

Who needs corneal refractive therapy (night correction)?

Corneal refractive therapy is indicated for:

  • patients suffering from myopia up to 6.5 dioptres and astigmatism up to 3.5 dioptres;
  • patients suffering from hyperopia up to 3.0 dioptres and astigmatism up to 1.5 dioptres;
  • patients with thin cornea, which fact prevents from performing laser sight correction to them;patients, who cannot wear glasses or soft contact lenses according to professional requirements, but must have 100 % sharp sight;
  • patients, having intolerance to soft contact lenses.

!!! It is also indicated in the cases of:

  • Progressive myopia
  • Initial amblyopia and squint as the result of hyperopia
  • Starting age-specific hyperopia (presbiopia)

!!! Corneal refractive therapy can be recommended for:

  • growing children and teenagers;
  • people suffering from age-specific presbiopia at initial stage, who wish to postpone using glasses for short distances;
  • people leading active mode of life;
  • people practicing sports;
  • people, wishing to get rid of glasses, but having no wish to perform an operation;
  • people, suffering from discomfort, dry eyes and allergic reactions while wearing soft contact lenses.
