The essence of the laser correction by the LASIK method is in the process of “regrinding” (the form change) of the cornea by the way of accurately measured and controlled by the computer vaporization of the cornea tissue by the ultraviolet (eximer) laser ray.

Before the process of laser grinding the cornea bed is created, which is the ultrathin valve cut out on the surface of the cornea in the form of the “lid”. First the valve is opened, after that the very correction is performed, and finally the valve is put back home.
